Why is the Tonik app requesting permission to access my Location, Contacts List, Camera, and Photos?

The app needs to access your Location, Contacts List, Camera, and Photos to function properly.

Your location and camera are used for security purposes. Your contacts list is used for selecting fund transfer recipient/s. Your camera and photos are used for account customization

I've cleared my app cache or stored data. Do I need to reinstall the app also?

Yes, you need to reinstall the app if you cleared the app cache or stored data.

How will I know if I'm eligible to open a Time Deposit?

If you submitted an ID, verifying your Tonik Account, you can open a Time Deposit. To be sure, you can also check your Tonik App. Go to the app dashboard, tap "History," then "Manage", and finally "Account Features."

How many Time Deposits can I open using my Tonik account?

You can hold up to five (5) active Time Deposits at any given time, but only 1 of those 5 can be a 12-month TD. The remaining 4 can be any other tenor (6, 9, 18, or 24 months).​ 

Can I also open a different Time Deposit term?

Yes, luv. You can open other Time Deposit terms. Currently we offer: 9 months, 12 months, 18 months and 24 months. Remember, at any given time, a user can only open up to (5) five Time Deposit accounts.

How many 9/12/18/24-month term Time Deposits can I open using my Tonik Account? 

Depending on your Time Deposit term preference, you can always open for 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, and 24 months, so long as you haven't maxed out the number of Time Deposits allowed, which is up to 5.

How much interest can I earn in opening a 6-month term Time Deposit account?

The base interest rate for a 6-month Time Deposit is 5% p.a. You can get an additional 1% interest if you maintain at least Php10,000 ADB (Average Daily Balance) in your Tonik Savings Account every month for 6 months.

I have maxed out my limit to open a Time Deposit. How can I can open a new one?

You can only open up to five (5) Time Deposits at any given time. If you wish to open a new one:

  • Wait for your existing Time Deposit(s) to mature
  • Withdraw early (but do note you'll incur an additional fee which is 20% on DST if beyond cooling period)

If my 6-month TD matures, can I open and create a new 6-month Time Deposit?

Yes, each Tonik user can enjoy one (1) 6-month TD at a time.​

What is ADB (Average Daily Balance)?

ADB (Average Daily Balance) is the sum of all your TSA balances at the end of each day for that month, divided by the total number of days in that month.

Scenario 1: A Tonik customer has below ADB requirement (month of April 2025). Hence, customer is ineligible

March 2025: Php 10,000

 April 2025: Php2,000 

May 2025: Php12,000 

June 2025: Php20,000

 July 2025: Php13,000 

August 2025: Php10,000

Scenario 2: A Tonik customer has met the ADB requirement for 6 months. Hence, customer is eligible. 

March 2025: Php 10,000 

April 2025: Php12,000

 May 2025: Php12,000 

June 2025: Php20,000 

July 2025: Php13,000 

August 2025: Php10,000

How much can I put in a Time Deposit?

The minimum amount to open one (1) Time Deposit (regardless of the term) is Php5,000 while the maximum amount is Php100,000.

Who can register as a Tonik user?

Any Filipino who is:

1. At least 18 years old
2. Has a residence in the Philippines
3. Has a valid email address
4. Has an active Philippine mobile number
5. Does not classify under the United States FATCA

How do I register?

  1. Download and install the Tonik App.
  2. Register by going through our app’s onboarding process.

How do I do a proper Face Identity Scan?

Your face will be the key to validating your identity and account ownership through our facial recognition security feature. For this very reason, pretty please ensure the following:

Find a well-lit place with a plain background, so that your mobile phone’s camera can accurately scan your face.

Remove anything that may prevent the app from scanning your full face (e.g. mask, hat, or any eyewear)

Directly face the camera and position your head within the purple frame you will see on the screen. You're awesome!

  • Philippine Passport
  • Philippine Driver’s License
  • Unified Multi-Purpose ID (UMID)
  • Social Security System (SSS) ID
  • Professional Regulation Commission Identification Card (PRC ID)
  • Postal ID (card type)
  • ePhilSys/Digital

What's this coverage of P1,000,000 per depositor?

Good question, luv! That means your total balance across all Tonik Accounts (that includes Tonik Account, Stashes, and Time Deposits) is insured for up to P1,000,000. So don't worry, your cash is safe and sound with us!​

How can I logout from my Tonik App?

You will be logged out automatically when your application has been inactive for five (5) minutes.

If you want to logout completely from your app, you may also press logout.

You may reset your app and password, where you will be required to set up a new password and perform face verification / Face Identity Scan on your next login.

 

I'm trying to open a Stash or Time Deposits account and it still shows PHP500,000 insured per depositor. Why is that? ​

Sorry luv! We request for your patience as you may still see the P500,000 MDIC (Maximum Deposit Insurance Coverage) displayed on the app and saving products (Stashes and Time Deposits).  ​

We're working on updating it to "Deposits are insured by PDIC up to ₱1 Million per depositor" as soon as possible. Hang in there!​

I downloaded my bank/time deposit certificates and it still shows PHP500,000 insured per depositor. Why is that?​
